Who would have thought that a small, invisible virus could bring the whole world to a halt, bring so much suffering, grief, and economic losses to every country? No concerts, all clubs closed - the party suddenly ended last year. Now, thanks to vaccines, the situation seems to be normalizing a little bit, hopes arise. The world is ready to let loose - that's where David Hasselhoff's new album comes in at just the right time: 'Party Your Hasselhoff' is the more than fitting title.

Once before, the actor, singer, and entertainer hit the right moment exactly: when he recorded 'Looking For Freedom' in 1989 together with German producer Jack White. With the fall of the Berlin Wall, it became the best-selling album of the year '89, staying in the German charts for 44 weeks. Hasselhoff sang the title song - the hit of the year in Germany and Switzerland - on New Year's Eve '89 in front of over 500,000 people at the Berlin Wall. In retrospect, it was often speculated that it was 'Knight Rider' Hasselhoff himself who made a significant contribution to the end of German division and gave the wall the decisive kick that led to its collapse. Daily sales of the song reached the mark of 70,000 copies, 'Looking For Freedom' topped the German charts for eight weeks, staying there for half a year. What is often forgotten is that his albums 'Night Rocker' (1985) and 'Lovin' Feelings' (1987) sold quite well in the German-speaking region.

In Germany, Austria, and Switzerland, the entertainer was placed a total of 707 times, including 194 times in the top 10 and 16 times at #1. Hasselhoff has been awarded gold and platinum certifications worldwide for his numerous music productions. He is listed in the 'Guinness Book of Records' in the section 'Most seen star in television history' - no wonder, as he appeared in over 25 TV series. The most famous ones - besides 'The Young And The Restless', 'Love Boat', and 'California Clan' - are the two cult series 'Knight Rider' (1982-1986) and 'Baywatch' (1989-2001). Starting from the second season, Hasselhoff was also the executive producer of 'Baywatch', the series was broadcasted in 144 countries and is still considered the most successful TV series of all time. Additionally, 'The Hoff' appeared in over 50 films, often only in supporting roles.

One does not have to want to improve the world or strive for higher cultural sanctity - that was never his thing, David Hasselhoff was always about entertainment; the ultimate pop star always guaranteed the best entertainment. In his 2010 biography 'Wellengang meines Lebens', he gets to the point: 'The important thing is that people like the music I make and that we have a good time together!'

This year, the king of easy-listening pop is now releasing his new album and bringing the big party back to Germany: 'Party Your Hasselhoff'!

'I had the idea for this cover album when I recorded a Neil Diamond song and realized that our voices are very similar. So I started brainstorming with my team, consisting of the record company, management, and producers, whether we should put together a whole album. We made a list of songs that were all big hits in Germany, which also fit my voice and especially our album title 'Party Your Hasselhoff' (from the English phrase 'Party Your Ass Off'). Because it should be a big party album, an album that everyone can sing and dance along to. And I am convinced that people are now definitely ready for a big party again, they want to go out and celebrate and have fun again. That is the keyword: Have fun! That is also the intention of the new record, to make people happy. Because we had enough unhappy moments last year.'

Hasselhoff reports how bad it was in the USA: 'I mainly spent the pandemic time watching TV. I had to witness all the people who died, witness how bad the programs of the US government were in combating the virus. Eventually, I couldn't watch anymore and had to turn off the TV. The incredibly high number of deaths, 600,000 in the USA alone, was too much. I was very angry at the government and the behavior of the Republicans and Democrats. Now it seems to be getting better. I can only recommend everyone to get vaccinated! If you want to regain your freedom, you have to get vaccinated! The vaccine gives me the freedom to travel, come back to Europe.'

The Hoff has always had a special relationship with Germany: His great-great-grandmother Meta Hasselhoff comes from near Bremen and emigrated to Baltimore in 1865
