'Playing The Angel', the 11th studio album from British synth-pop icons Depeche Mode, is the first of three albums to feature songs written by Dave Gahan. Musically this work brings the band back to their old stomping grounds. It's stylistically more oriented towards works like 'Black Celebration' and 'Violator'. Unlike its predecessor, 'Exciter' offers a stronger emphasis on raw, analogue sounds.
