The time is ripe for 'Survival Of The Sickest' - the sixth album by BLOODBATH, the Swedish masters of Old School Death Metal. The all-star supergroup was formed in 1998 by Jonas Renkse and Anders Nyström (both from Katatonia), Mikael Åkerfeldt (Opeth), and Dan Swanö (Edge Of Sanity), and from the beginning, BLOODBATH has been devoted to pure and authentic old school death metal. Since 2014, they have embarked on this musical journey together with Paradise Lost legend Nick Holmes - who spits morbid lyrics in his role as Old Nick Blood. With a newly reformed lineup consisting of Renkse, Nyström, Per 'Sodomizer' Eriksson (formerly of Katatonia), Martin 'Axe' Axenrot (formerly of Opeth), and Holmes, there could only be one direction: diving even deeper into the depths of mortality and the ugly facets of the supernatural.

A leap into 2022: The world is in flames, and 'Survival Of The Sickest' holds a mirror up to the horror of reality. Together with their new guitarist Tomas 'Plytet' Åkvik (Lik), BLOODBATH has created their strongest album to date, irresistibly luring the listener into darkness with ten songs full of massive death metal frenzy.

From the pounding cerebral shock of the opener 'Zombie Inferno' to the dark, concluding 'No God Before Me,' 'Survival Of The Sickest' embodies the sound of its creators in outstanding form. In contrast to The Arrow Of Satan Is Drawn (2018), which was heavily influenced by blackened death metal, the new BLOODBATH album goes directly for the jugular in true old school fashion. With strong echoes of Morbid Angel and Death, as well as Deicide and Obituary, songs like the furious 'Putrefying Corpse,' the punishingly heavy 'Dead Parade,' and the gut-wrenching 'Tales Of Melting Flesh' ignite the genre in an incomparable manner. 'Survival Of The Sickest' is further enhanced by guest appearances from genre giants Barney Greenway (Napalm Death), Luc Lemay (Gorguts), and Marc Grewe (Morgoth).
