Once, Helga Gabriel lived secluded in the vast expanses of the Swedish hinterland. She sang in choirs, but in reality, the lake and the forests were always her church. Her voice floated like birds through the evening mist and sang psalms amidst birch and pine trees.
But in 2019, a calling emerged in Helga. She traveled 800 miles north to North Yorkshire, where she met three childhood friends and a precocious multi-instrumentalist. The rest is history. HELGA was born.
HELGA draw from many different influences: Swedish folk, progressive metal, post-rock, pop, black metal. On their debut album 'Wrapped in Mist,' they combine powerful drumming, eerie strings, and chugging riffs into a lament about mortality and mental health.
They are just getting started. But already, this young band has proven itself as a fresh, strong force.
