"Z2" has become a superlative double album, which brings the skills and creativity of Devin Townsend in perfect harmony with any expectations. The obsessed Canadian Devin Townsend, who has achieved 30 albums in his impressive career, now increases the dedication in shape of a double album including multimedia, which offers a cross-section of what he is able to do as an artist. To delight in „Z2“ is like diving into the mysterious creases of the Devin Townsend Project catalogue and mix with the layers bludgeoning down heaviness and angelic melodies that dwell beneath the cathedral of Devin's thoughtful solo visions. A highlight on the new release is the 'Universal Choir'. There was a website designed, on which the fans could upload their own vocal recordings of parts of the album. Then these files were taken and assembled into a 2000 people strong "fan choir".

The limited 3 CD edition comes with a bonus CD of the Dark Matters album without the dialogues, which are on the standard version.
