'Fear of the Dark' is the ninth studio Album by the British Heavy Metal band Iron Maiden. This was the last Album with singer Bruce Dickinson until his return in 1999. Bruce Dickinson wanted to focus on his solo career. A special feature of the cover artwork of 'Fear of the Dark' was that, for the first time in Iron Maiden's career, Derek Riggs was not responsible for the design. The image used in the end was created by Melvyn Grant. In 1994, the Maiden Album 'Fear of the Dark' was nominated for the Grammy Award for Best Metal Performance and reached the top position in the Album charts in the UK.
