Texas trio ZZ TOP celebrate half a century of beards, blues rocking and piercing guitars with their new compilation. They present 50 songs that helped the “little ol’ band from Texas” become rock and roll legends by the 21st century.
16 August marks the release of ‘Goin’ 50’ as a 3-CD set or 5-LP (180 g) set from Warner Bros. Records. A leaner single-CD version with 18 tracks was released on 14 June, packed full of enough hits to fill up a whole jukebox in a motorway boozer. ‘Goin’ 50’ spans the band’s entire musical career, from their debut in 1969 to their multi-platinum pinnacle in the 1980s to their most recent releases. This journey back through their sensational career includes handpicked tracks from all 15 of their studio albums, recorded by guitarist Billy Gibbons, drummer Frank Beard and bassist Dusty Hill since 1970. It also includes two bonus tracks recorded with ZZ Top’s original incarnation during the group’s earliest days in 1969, ‘Salt Lick’ and ‘Miller’s Farm’ (one single and one B side).
