Founded in 1988 in Stockholm, Sweden, Dismember was responsible for the breakthrough of death metal. Their debut album, "Like An Ever Flowing Stream," released in 1991, clearly showed that Dismember was an uncompromising band, which led to their rise to cult status and quickly conquered the scene. Extensive tours with bands like Death, Morbid Angel, and Cannibal Corpse demonstrated that Dismember was a force to be reckoned with live, and their fan base grew steadily. The band then released the 5-track EP "Pieces" and went on tour again with Napalm Death and Obituary. They played in front of thousands of fans across Europe, solidifying their status as one of the best live bands in the world. Their second album, "Indecent & Obscene," sounded more mature and accessible than its predecessor, without denying the band's death metal roots. The subsequent tour (with Deicide, Suffocation, and Vader) took Dismember to America for the first time, where they left an astonished audience behind after racing through the USA like a runaway train before returning to Europe to participate in the first Nuclear Blast Festival Tour alongside label colleagues Hypocrisy, Amorphis, and Benediction. In 1995, the third album, "Massive Killing Capacity," was released, solidifying Dismember's status as legends. The Swedes had never been better.
