Brazilian death metal quartet CRYPTA will release its highly acclaimed successor to their 2021 debut album Echoes of the Soul (#55 on the Official German Album Charts and #15 on the US Hard Music Albums and Top New Artist Albums Charts) on August 4, 2023. Formed in 2019 by former NERVOSA members Luana Dametto (drums) and Fernanda Lira (vocals), the band is completed by guitarists Tainá Bergamaschi and Jessica di Falchi. Remaining true to their unique sound, CRYPTA combines classic and modern death metal with significant extreme and black metal elements, enhancing this mixture with fervent energy and incomparable charisma.

Furious and uncompromising, Shades of Sorrow takes no prisoners from the start. The menacing piano intro, 'The Aftermath,' invokes a dark atmosphere before 'Dark Clouds' launches with wild growls that immediately captivate. From the first second, the band's precise interplay becomes apparent through the forceful instrumental prowess. 'Poisonous Apathy' captivates with its electrifying guitar sound and distinctive, hard-hitting bass, invading the listeners' nervous system. The relentless 'The Outsider' unleashes raw brutality and attacks with intense drums before transitioning into a comparatively softer outro. In line with this, 'Stronghold' follows, progressing just as powerfully. The outstanding death metal drumming in 'The Other Side of Anger' sets the stage for a vocal hurricane - unstoppable and uncontrollable. With foreboding piano play, 'The Limbo' serves as the intro to the undoubtedly impressive guitar work in 'Trial of Traitors.' After the eerie and haunting 'Lullaby for the Forsaken,' 'Agents of Chaos' showcases the multifaceted nature of CRYPTA once again, displaying their high level of mastery. The colossal death metal tracks 'Lift the Blindfold' and 'Lord of Ruins' unleash all the power that CRYPTA has to offer, before Shades of Sorrow concludes with the instrumental piece, 'The Closure.'

With Shades of Sorrow, CRYPTA has created another impressive death metal masterpiece that perfectly showcases the technical skills and songwriting abilities of the four women across 13 songs. The album was recorded at Family Mob Studio, mixed by Daniel Bergstrand (33 Stockholm, Sweden), and mastered by Jens Bogren at the Fascination Street Studio.
