The time has come for 'Survival Of The Sickest' - the sixth album from BLOODBATH, the Swedish masters of old school death metal. The all-star supergroup was formed in 1998 by Jonas Renkse and Anders Nyström (both from Katatonia), Mikael Åkerfeldt (Opeth), and Dan Swanö (Edge Of Sanity), and from the beginning, BLOODBATH has been dedicated to pure and authentic old school death metal. Since 2014, they have been on this musical journey together with Paradise Lost legend Nick Holmes - who, in his role as Old Nick, spits out morbid lyrics. With a newly reformed lineup, consisting of Renkse, Nyström, Per 'Sodomizer' Eriksson (Ex-Katatonia), Martin 'Axe' Axenrot (Ex-Opeth), and Holmes, there could only be one way: to delve even deeper into the abysses of mortality and the ugly facets of the supernatural.

A jump to the year 2022: The world is on fire, and 'Survival Of The Sickest' reflects the horror of reality. Together with their new guitarist Tomas 'Plytet' Åkvik (Lik), BLOODBATH has created their strongest album to date, which inevitably draws the listener into darkness with ten songs full of powerful death metal frenzy.

From the dull brain splatter of the opener 'Zombie Inferno' to the dark, concluding 'No God Before Me,' 'Survival Of The Sickest' embodies the sound of its creators in outstanding shape. In contrast to The Arrow Of Satan Is Drawn (2018), which was strongly influenced by blackened death metal, the new BLOODBATH album goes directly for the jugular in true old school fashion. With strong echoes of Morbid Angel and Death, as well as Deicide and Obituary, songs like the furious 'Putrefying Corpse,' the torturously heavy 'Dead Parade,' and the gut-wrenching 'Tales Of Melting Flesh' ignite the genre in an incomparable way. 'Survival Of The Sickest' is enhanced by a series of guest appearances by genre giants Barney Greenway (Napalm Death), Luc Lemay (Gorguts), and Marc Grewe (Morgoth).

On their latest work, BLOODBATH conjure up their most eerie sonic scenarios yet, from the deadly nightmare 'Malignant Maggot Therapy' to the murderous 'Affliction Of Extinction.'
