The Musikladen Recordings 1978 (LP, fra Ramones

On 13th September 1978 the RAMONES were guests at the television studios of Radio Bremen. It was the band's first performance in Europe. They played 25 titles in 50 minutes for the once successful music series MUSIKLADEN and left an enthusiastic audience. Now this unbelievable performance is, for the first time on LP, released unabridged including all encores. A vinyl disc is included with the TV performance's DVD.

It must have been a shock for the Band once they scaled Radio Bremen's stage. While the demolished set of the MUSIKLADEN was ok for Joey, Dee Dee, Johnny and Marky Ramone, this doesn't apply to the audience. Styled and bored people were sitting in front of the stage as if they were left from the last Baccara gig. Jörg Sonntag, now director and editor and back then Mike Leckebusch's assisting director, remembers in an interview (bonus title on the DVD) how he had been wandering through Bremen's pubs the night before and distributed free tickets. That's why at least a small part of the audience was made up of punks and rockers. The RAMONES put it off at first and played their one hour concert, which showed pieces from their first two albums, with the highest professionalism and joy. And they did manage to thrill the audience in the end. For the American punk legends this first TV performance not only meant hard labour, but also the vital breakthrough on the continent..
